Blackrock Expert Services Group was pleased to take part in Paris’ key international arbitration event, Paris Arbitration Week, from 6-10 July 2020. This year the entire week was adapted to take place virtually for the first time, giving even more access to the global arbitration community at large. Paris is the preferred arbitration seat worldwide to many local and foreign parties alike, making it a major hub for international arbitration, as well as a key office location for Blackrock Expert Services Group.
On Tuesday 7 July 2020 Louk Korovesis, head of our Paris office, and Ewen Maclean joined partners from Fieldfisher Paris and Fieldfisher London to participate in an interesting and informative discussion about avoiding delays in construction disputes. Louk summarised the key issues that lead to significant project delay, including failure to deal with the impact on the baseline, and Ewen discussed the importance of good record keeping and the recent impact of COVID-19 on project delay, concluding that “in all cases you must properly document the data.”
On Thursday 9 July 2020 David Barry took part in the flagship construction disputes conference from Global Arbitration Review, this year focusing on the current challenges arising from COVID-19, in particular on delay and loss of productivity on site. Joined by a panel of industry experts, led by senior barrister and arbitrator Jane Davies Evans, David discussed the ways in which Blackrock Expert Services’ project advisory team have sought to mitigate and moderate the effects of this global pandemic.
